MEETING SANTA CLAUS IN ROVANIEMI

Santa Claus Village is the most popular destination in Rovaniemi, the official hometown of Santa Claus, a magical winter wonderland with lots of different services for visitors: accommodations, tours, activities, souvenir shops, Santa Claus home, post office and excellent restaurants. https://santaclausvillage.info/

We could enjoy the real winter wonderland atmosphere when visiting this magical place at the end of October, 1 week before the opening of the Christmas season.

After crossing the Arctic Circle, we met Santa in his residence, where his team took some photos and video of the meeting. Photos and video of the meeting for 2 people cost 60 EUR. https://santaclausoffice.com/

After that, we bought and posted Christmas cards for our relatives and friends from Santa`s Post Office. You can send postcards from the post office with special stamps, it will be a unique gift for your loved ones. Postcards from 1 EUR, stamp costs 1.70 EUR (to Europe) https://santaclausvillage.info/santa-claus/santa-claus-main-post-office/

In Santa Claus Village souvenir shops you can buy a wide range of fridge magnets, keyrings, candles, Xmas tree decorations, knitted wear, T-shirts, reindeer furs and many more. Magnets from 4 EUR. https://santaclausvillage.info/souvenirs-giftware/

At Santa`s reindeer farm feeding was not available, so we took a reindeer sleigh ride around the village while warming up under reindeer fur on the comfy seats. https://www.santaclausreindeer.fi/winter/reindeer-rides-santa-village-rovaniemi/

Our tour would not have been complete without visiting Santa`s Salmon Place which is a unique restaurant with amazing grilled salmon. http://santas-salmon-place.com/

After that we got another gastronomical experience at Kotahovi restaurant, eating a nice salmon soup, blueberry pie and glögi. https://www.laplandrestaurant.fi/

At the end of the day, we checked in to Glass Resort and enjoyed our exclusive glass igloo apartment with a private sauna and jacuzzi. After dark we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of the snowy and abandoned village, walking on the streets and squares filled with Xmas lighting decorations. https://glassresort.fi/

LAST WEEK OF DECEMBER IN ICELAND - TIPS FOR CHRISTMAS 2021

How to plan our holiday in the festive period? In 2020 we spent the end of the year in Iceland and we ran into inconveniences because of being not prepared: closed stores, shortened opening hours, limited services. This year in 2021 we have carefully studied the websites of stores, supermarkets, restaurants, tour operator companies etc., sent questions and received answers about the festive opening hours and services. Now sharing our guide with those who also plan their trip to Iceland at Christmastime. TEIDE VOLCANO TOUR IN TENERIFE

First of February, we completed this wonderful tour by car to the car park, then by cable car to the upper station, and then on foot to the La Fortaleza viewpoint. It was a nice short walk in the sunny and chilly weather, minus 1 at the peak (24-25 Celsius on the beaches at the same time). If you plan to visit Teide volcano, 3718 m high, you can choose from several options. You can book an organized tour, even at night, in which case there is nothing special to do, the organizer will arrange everything. If you organize yourself, you can reach the free car park at an altitude of 2300 meters, where your car must be parked. You can choose to go by cable car from here, with a ticket buying at the station or buy online before travel (it is advisable to buy a ticket online in advance for the given date and time), the return ticket price is 37 EUR for 1 adult and 18.50 EUR for a child aged 3-13 (prices in 2022). From the parking lot, it is also possible to continue on a hiking trail, it is re...
